A Year of Magic – My Top 5 Witchy Resolutions for 2024

A Year of Magic – My Top 5 Witchy Resolutions for 2024

Hey there, fellow Witches and Spiritual Seekers! As I sit down to share my thoughts with you on this chilly January day, almost two weeks have already passed since the New Year started. I can feel the energy of the year settling in, its spirit gently revealed by the whispering Winter winds. It seems like the perfect time to reflect on my witchy journey and set some goals and intentions for the months ahead. So, grab your favorite brew (mine’s a warm cup of lemon & ginger herbal tea, yum!), and let’s dive into my top 5 witchy resolutions for 2024.

🔮 Craft Personal Spells and Rituals

The first goal on my list for this year is to craft more personal spells and rituals. I’ve always been drawn to the creative side of witchcraft – that’s why I put both my art and witchy practices under the same umbrella, one that is named the Craft. But I realized that I focused much more on the former than the latter this past year. To be fair, that’s expected, considering I run an art business and not a potion shop (that’d be fun though!). But I’m eager to give additional space to spellcrafting in my day to day life.

A few years ago, I started a beautiful Book of Spells, a sacred repository of my magical workings. It’s not just a record but a canvas for my creativity, and I consider the paintings it holds to be integral parts of the spells they illustrate. Each page is a work of art and a reflection of the magic I weave. Holding it right now, looking through the pages I’ve already created, I can’t tell you how excited I am to see it evolve this year, to see what happens when I start to fill in the rest! And who knows, maybe I’ll share some of it with you here.

✍️ Rediscover the Lost Art of Journaling

Journaling has always been a cornerstone of my spiritual path, but I’ve let it slip away in recent times as I focused more on the mundane. So for the next of my witchy resolutions, I say it’s about time that I reconnect with this exercise, as it helps me understand my path and spiritual growth. No special, hand-painted grimoire for this practice though, I’m just going to pick it up right where I left it, in what I believe is a Paperblanks notebook.

I really miss journaling. Not only is it a space where I can explore my thoughts and feelings in quiet solitude, but going through my old writings is a great reminder that my journey is unique, and it’s essential to document it. That’s why I like to record the effects of my spells, the dreams that I’m able to recall and find significant, and the messages I get from Tarot readings and the like.

🔥 Reignite the Tarot Flame

Speaking of which… Ah, Tarot, my trusted guide through the winding paths of life. Last year, my Tarot practice took a backseat too. Today, I feel ready to feed the flames of my passion for this divination method, especially now that I’m working on creating my own Tarot Deck. I started making Tarot of a Forest Witch in 2023 and it’s such an exciting project! It allows me to infuse my own energy and symbolism into each card, to think deeper about the different archetypes they represent, and how I want to picture them through my art.

The cards have always been great companions on my spiritual path, a reliable tool to question, explore, and understand more about myself and the world around. I’m more than ready to welcome Tarot back into my space and let the Arcana speak to me once more. Plus I’m not going to lie, I’ve got what we call “collectionite aigue” in French. There are so many gorgeous decks out there, and I want them all!

🌲 Deepen My Connection with the Land

Nature has always been a wellspring of inspiration and magic for me, and my love for the great Pacific Northwest has not faded (I highly doubt it ever will). So, for the next of my witchy resolutions, I’m committed to spending even more time outdoors, not only for the simple pleasure of exploring this beautiful part of the world, but to deepen my connection with the Land Spirits, the plants and wildlife with whom I share the local environment.

There’s something profound about communing with Nature, especially the place you call home, and I fully intend to keep making it an integral part of my Craft. To keep things interesting, I’d like to explore new ways to take my practice outside, under the open sky and amidst the whispers of the trees. I have no idea yet what it will look like, but it doesn’t really matter, right? The spiritual path is exactly that, a path. One that I just want to get on, hike and see where it leads me!

🍪 Reenchant my Kitchen

I am and always will be a Forest Witch at heart. Unfortunately I can’t spend all of my day roaming the woods in search of quirky mushrooms, colorful feathers and others forest treasures. I, just like anybody else, spend the majority of my time in between walls, cozying at home, in my art studio and, yes, in my kitchen. I’ve always been the main cook at home but strangely enough, I never really took the steps to make this part of my day another facet of my Craft.

Now to be totally honest with you, I got a head start on this goal a few moons ago, when Fall Season came and found me craving warm, comforting meals that I could infuse with a little bit of magic. I am ways away from considering myself a Kitchen Witch but so far it’s been a fun journey of magical and culinary experiments, and I intend to keep it that way throughout this year.

As you can see, a lot of these witchy resolutions actually stem from my desire to return to simple and reliable – but sometimes neglected – daily practices like journaling and Tarot reading. Each one is a seed that I plant today trusting that, with enough tender love and care, it will end up growing in ways that I won’t even expect. I hope at least one of them resonate with your own spiritual path and that you’ll join me on this journey by sharing your own goals and intentions in the comments below.

Let’s embrace the magic of 2024 together – May your intentions bloom and flourish in the year ahead! ✨🌿💫
