I have a gift for you, Earth Walkers! I’ve kept this project secret for the past few weeks and I am very excited to finally be able to tell you all about it today! We’ve entered a New Year and the Moon has just begun its very first cycle through the Night Sky a couple of days ago. How about we celebrate these two magical events with a beautifully illustrated Moon Calendar?
By the end of 2020, with all the challenges this particular year created, I found myself in a bit of a rut, creatively speaking, and I really needed something new to focus on. Around the same time, I was also thinking a lot about my Spiritual Practice, and particularly what I could do to deepen my connection with Earth’s Little Sister, the Moon.
I soon realized that one of the simplest things I could do to start on the right path was to display a Moon Calendar in my Atelier, just to have a visual representation of the Nocturnal Cycles with which I so deeply wanted to harmonize again.
Now that I think about it, I can’t even believe that I didn’t have one before. I mean, I always scribble the Moon Phases in my planner anyway – for those nights when I forget to take a moment and look up at the stars – but there’s something even more special to finally have it displayed on my wall. To be able to see it every day that I walk into this room, be it for work or for a meditation and ritual.
But anyway, now that I have painted this 2021 Moon Calendar, I thought I’d also share it with you here so that you could download and print your own copy if you wish to!
If you care about this kind of detail, know that I’ve worked on this illustration during a complete Lunar Cycle, starting from one New Moon to the next. Having sketched the draft, I knew it was going to be a long-ish process anyway, with all these floral elements and endless leaves to paint… So I thought why not infuse a little more Moon Magic into the whole thing?
And the good thing is that I filmed a lot of the actual painting so you can definitely expect to see a Dedicated Video pop up on my Youtube Channel early next week!
Coyote and Raven are two Spirits (or Archetypes, depending on your views and what you want to call it) that I encountered a lot last year. It’s no wonder then that they both choose to appear on this Moon Calendar. I’ve always found their Trickster Energy quite intriguing, and I’m eager to deepen my relationship with these two even more as the Moon follows its course throughout 2021.
But speaking of the Moon Cycle, I should probably clarify something about the days featuring each New and Full Moon. Living in the oh-so-beautiful Pacific Northwest, I relied on the PST time zone, meaning that it may be just a tiny bit different for you depending on where you live. Hopefully, it shouldn’t be too consequential, but there I said it, just in case you were questioning yourself about this particular matter.
One last thing before I go, if you do actually end up printing and displaying my Moon Calendar, I would absolutely l.o.v.e to get a picture of it, whether hanging in your home or your office (more likely your Home Office, considering the ongoing pandemic/lockdown situation) or even just stuck inside your planner or Bullet Journal! Feel free to share it so that I can see the wonderful things you were inspired to do with it.
