Preparing for the shop reopening

Preparing for the shop reopening

I don’t know if you’re aware, but my request for work authorization in the United States again was approved recently! Which means that I’m getting the shop ready for reopening. This is such great news, especially after all these months of waiting for it. I mean, I can’t even believe it’s been a whole year. In December 2019, I was taking off to France to have my visa changed, and I had to let my shop closed ever since.

But hey, let’s pretend 2020 was a hiccup in the grand scheme of things and try to forget about it.

Right now I’m happy, and I just want to savor this tiny victory while I’m working on getting the shop all clean and ready for the Big Day. Yep, you heard it right: I am confident that I’ll be able to reopen my shop at the beginning of 2021. I expect to receive the last documents that will confirm my legal status in the next couple of weeks. And from here, everything seems possible!

But anyways, you know that awkward feeling when you go back to an activity that you haven’t touched for a long time? You think it’ll be like going back on a bicycle, it’ll be soooo easy. Well, let me tell you it is not.

There’s so much involved in managing an online shop, especially when you’re not going through a marketplace like Etsy. There’s an entire catalog to update, one product at a time, new shipping rates to figure out, getting in touch with old suppliers, finding new ones when they had to close themselves due to the pandemic, and my own personal favorite, getting familiar with the whole tax mayhem. Again.

It’s amazing how much of all this stuff can change in a single year. Especially one that’s been impacted by Covid-19.

I guess without this kind of overly long break, everything goes more smoothly and you don’t really notice the changes as they come one after the other in the midst of your working days. But when you have to figure out every little detail at the same time, I have to admit, it’s a bit overwhelming. It reminds me of the very start of my e-commerce adventure a few years ago, minus the excitement of discovering a world completely new to me.

But hey, I’m not complaining in any way, because at least that means I am working. And it feels so, so good to have some kind of goal in mind, a purpose to strive for and build my day around. I am deeply grateful to have that right now – although I’m never taking it for granted again. Please just bear with me as I’m finding my footing again while dusting all of the cobwebs left in the corners.

So as I’m clearing the space for the imminent reopening, you may see some changes happen in the shop, especially with the products themselves. I am in the process of listing new pieces and updating some of the older ones. There are a lot of new pictures already uploaded and a whole collection that’s been waiting for months.

I had the intention of keeping a little bit of a surprise with that one, but I’m kinda over it now. All I want is for everything to go smoothly when reopening the shop so I’m getting everything up there early. This means that if you’re curious to see what I have in my drawers for you, you can go on the webshop and check what’s coming yourself right now.

And of course, for those of you who are waiting for Wildera Lenormand to come out (kudos to you for your incredible patience and understanding), the pre-orders will finally go live when the shop gets up and running.

I’ll talk about all of the goodies that will go along the deck in a different Blog Post, but you may already have seen a few, especially if you watched the videos I uploaded on my Youtube Channel. Oh, and by the way, there’s a full flip-through of the 36 cards waiting for you there if you’re interested in seeing the whole deck.
